Magnet and Specialty Programs

Newport News Public Schools offers elementary, middle and high school students the chance to focus in such areas as environmental science, communication and performing arts, aviation, international studies, and math, science, technology and engineering.

• Magnet applications will be available on December 1, 2009.

• Applications are due on January 22, 2010, and all applicants will be notified by mail after February 26.

• Parent decisions are due by March 15, 2010 if a parent chooses to have their child to attend their zone school rather than the magnet choice in the letter OR March 15-April 2, 2010 if a student is not enrolled in NNPS to complete the registration and admission process.
